Something from Down Under- Bunya Nut

This is a naturally grown Bunya Nut seed, predominantly found in South East Queensland in Australia, mainly in the Bunya Mountains (hence the name).

Bunya nut seed is traditional food for the Australian Aboriginal people.

Nuts mature in Summer, eaten raw, rosted or boiled. The taste similar to the european chesnut.

Bunya nuts are nutritious, containing 40% water, 40% complex carbohydrate, 9% protein, 2% fat, potassium and magnesium.

Safe to eat raw, but taste better cooked.

I have boiled these seeds in milk and water for 40minutes. Taste like chesnut. Yummi!
