Hungarian Paprika Potatoes

Hungarian Paprika Potatoes

Classic simple Hungarian dish, can be made at home on the stove, but also delicious at a garden party, cooked over a camp fire in a special pot called "bogracs".

In a pot saute one large finely chopped onion on some vegetable oil or Lard, I also like to use some white speck to add flavor.  When the onion changes color, add some chopped red capsicum or red banana chilies. Stir, till the capsicum have a little char.

Pull it off the heat, add some Hungarian powder paprika, stir, and add some water. Put it back on the heat, add the chopped potatoes and fill with water till covers the potatoes. Cook on medium heat until the potatoes cooked. Add salt, pepper, little bit of powder stock (Vegeta), and hot chilies.

Optional to add some good smoked Knackwurst or similar meat.

Enjoy with bread on the side, and a dash of sour cream.
