ABC Kipfel

This is the Kipfel they sell in the local supermarkets in Hungary. It is plain, but we have grown up eating it for breakfast, was also in the school lunchbox many times. The government has also supplied these Kipfel with 250ml milk or cocoa drink at primary school as a morning tea.

Ingredients:

600g Plain Flour

(If you have bread starter, use 100g of that and take that weight off the flour)

10g Instant dry Yeast

40g Butter

2 Teaspoon Salt

2 big table spoon of Sour Cream

250ml Warm Water (might need more or less if you use the starter)

Teaspoon of white sugar

Combine Ingredients in a large bowl. Knead for 20 minutes til well combined.

Rest for 50minutes.

Cut dough into 8 round pieces.

Rest for 15minutes.

Roll each pieces out to a round shape, and roll them up.

Rest for 30minutes.

Spray oven with water, and bake on 200c for 20-30minutes till browning starts.

Cool on the wire rack.

Enjoy with butter, jam, cheese, or anything you put on a sandwich.
